Cross Platform GUIs - created

wxWidgets is still the best option it seems since it has wxPython as well

FLTK is neat, but it looks different across platforms (perhaps good for small demos or keygens)

Mono is starting to become more of an option especially since it's on the iPhone

Cross Platform Programming Concerns

Automatic creation of Visual Studio project files along with makefiles for other platforms is a really good thing.

These are going to vary from platform to platform, so ideally, you can create one and some tool will create the various makefiles for you. Or instead, you can have a tool that replaces 'make'. One such tool is Boost.Build, which is an excellent tool for this.

The following are various ideas for projects that I've thought up over the years. They all must be thoroughly researched, however, before taking them to any sort of fruition. When that research is done, that idea will be promoted and have a whole page to itself.

Profiling

There are a lot of tools for timing (or profiling) code. Most of these profilers are commercial, but there are in fact some that are free.
